Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Dan and I were lucky to spend our Valentine's Day with new friends here in Santiago. We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a theological institute in the city, Comunidad Cristiana Casa Grande, in a building that was originally a childhood home of Chile's outgoing president, Michelle Bachelet.

The evening featured typical Chilean disfrutas: lots of good food, plenty of talking, great live music, karaoke, and good fun all around.

With us at dinner were Monica and her novio Raul, and Ale and her fiance Paul. Monica is our homestay host here in Santiago and she's gone all out to help us settle in here in Chile.

Ale is not only a new friend, she's also the executive director of the exceptional language school we're attending here in Santiago, Chile, Escuela Fronteras (we'll talk more about our great experiences at the school in future posts).

Monica takes a turn at karoke:

And Ale and Paul give it their all:

Haven't tried the arandanos yet- they're blueberrries, right? But there is so much fresh fruit here in Chile right now it's incredible. They export tons and tons of all kinds of fruit, but import very few. So the locals have to eat their fruit in season.

Lucille, como estas? Thanks so much for checking in and all the good vibes. This has been an amazing journey so far.....

Larry- We're working hard at our classes- they're pretty tough! But that's of course why we're here, so it's worth the "pain." Vale la pena, as the Chileans would say. :)
I think the blog may slowly melt from English to Spanish as the weeks go by.....

Hi Tammy!!

Como estas?

Dan sheared his locks a few days before we left for Chile. He said he wanted the teachers to take him seriously at the Spanish school. But I miss it a little....:)
