After a night in Dunedin, we were treated to one of the most beautiful drives on the face of the earth, in a country that we're starting to think contains most of the beautiful drives on the face of the earth.
The Otago Peninsula is east of Dunedin, and if you ever have the pleasure of driving here, budget at least half a day to drive out and back.
Even Highway 1 north from San Francisco has nothing on this drive. It's chock full of skinny cliffside roads with stunning views, blind hairpin turns and a nerve-wracking lack of guardrails.
If you're used to driving on the right, do not do this drive at night.
