This journey, which took us from Blenheim on the South Island, through Kaikoura, and then finally back to Christchurch, would take a determined driver only about five or six hours. But we turned it into a two-day trip, and just drifted down the road, stopping every so often pull over and take pictures, or get out of the car and just watch the ocean for a while.
